MAKING OUT AN EVENT BUDGET, HOW NECESSARY IS IT?

Where do i even begin? I can not stress the fact enough that making a budget for your up-coming event is a necessity. Most people just plan their event and pay for every aspect as the bills come. They dont know that it is possibe to make up a budget and work aroud it.

These times are hard times, and people try as much as possible to manage. But the fact that things are hard does not mean that you cannot have a lovely event. All you have to do is check your pocket and figure out how much you can afford to spend on your event, then, make out a budget based on that amount. When hiring vendors to cover the event, keep in mind the very amount you budgeted for that vendor and ensure that you stick to it. For example, if your budget for food is N500,000, bargain with the caterer very well so that you end up paying exactly that amount or even lower. When bargaining, go lower than your budget so that eventually, you and the vendor will finally settle on your budgeted amount or lower than it. If the chosen vendor refuses to charge you the amount on your budget, you can let go and search for other vendors for that item. Thank goodness that now, we have a vast amount of people in the event business. Lots of caterers, bakers, decorators, etc. You can research and choose one that is tailored to meet your needs, and believe me, you will definately find one.

If you hire an event planner, ensure that they make out a budget for you. A professional event planner knows that it is an important step in planning an event. Your planner meets with you and you make out the budget together according to your pocket.

Budgeting helps you save. When you budget, you realize that you save instead of splash. If you decide to just get the vendors and pay them as you go or as they come, you will end up spending more on a service you would have gotten for less. So, cut your coat according to your size.

Need i say more? If you have an up-coming event, and you dont want to hire an event planner, don´t fail to make out a budget and stick to it. Do so and you will be glad you did.

Having said all that,

Happy budgeting!
